Bridging Out Program

The Bridging Out Program was established in 1990 by a group of concerned parents, their young adult children with significant learning disorders, and BRIDGES’ founding directors. The families were concerned about the future after high school. They had questions about future planning and independent living. However, the priority was to create a long-standing community support network, like an emotional safety net. The group has met monthly, consistently and continuously, since 1990. Members value socialization, support, and sharing news. As a group, they have set and met goals for health, making friends, productive work and independent living.
